Flame retardant is the application of flame retardant technology in real life
2023-02-16 17:15:59

Flame retardant science and technology is a science developed to meet the needs of social safety in production and life, prevent fires, and protect people's lives and property. Flame retardant is the application of flame retardant technology in real life. It is a special chemical additive used to improve the combustion performance of flammable and combustible materials. It is widely used in the flame retardant processing of various decoration materials. Materials processed with flame retardants can effectively prevent, delay or terminate the spread of flames when attacked by external fire sources, so as to achieve the effect of flame retardancy.

flame retardant

Generally speaking, organic flame retardants have a good affinity. In plastics, brominated flame retardants dominate the organic flame retardant system. Although there are many "criticisms" on environmental protection issues, it has been difficult to be replaced by other flame retardant systems.

Among the non-halogen flame retardants, red phosphorus is a better flame retardant, which has the advantages of less addition, high flame retardant efficiency, low smoke, low toxicity, and wide application; red phosphorus and aluminum hydroxide, expandable graphite and other inorganic flame retardants are used in combination to make composite phosphorus/magnesium; phosphorus/aluminum; phosphorus/graphite and other non-halogen flame retardants, which can greatly reduce the amount of flame retardants used, thereby improving the processing performance and physical and mechanical properties of plastic products .

However, ordinary red phosphorus is easy to oxidize and absorb moisture in the air, which is easy to cause dust explosion, difficult to transport, poor compatibility with polymer materials and other defects, which limit the application range. In order to make up for this deficiency, a microcapsule coating process can be used to make it microencapsulated red phosphorus. In addition to overcoming the inherent disadvantages of red phosphorus, microencapsulated red phosphorus has low smoke and no toxic gas during processing. Its dispersibility, physical and mechanical properties, thermal stability and flame retardancy are all improved and improved.
